 500mil-flying-palace
We all have seen how Saudis go about spending the loads of money that they have got. However, what we will show you today is a bit too superfluous even for a Saudi prince.prince-alwaleedThe basic concept behind being rich is simple; fly first class, own your own private jet or maybe have your name painted on it. But Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal has taken it to the next level by pulling of this new feat. The Prince has recently acquired an Airbus A380 which costs $300 million and is spending another $200 million to customize it into something that will look more than just spectacular!
prince-plane1Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal has a net worth of $18 billion but still this feat seems a bit too overboard, don’t you think? Prince employed his investment firm, Kingdom Holding, to acquire shares of some companies and it has really paid off. The companies include; News Corp, Apple, Citigroup and Twitter and is also the proud owner of The Savoy (London), the Fairmont (San Francisco), the Plaza (New York) and the Four Seasons. Prince also owns a number of yachts and his car collection currently contains 200 automobiles and has three palaces at his disposal with a total area of 5 million square feet. Once the Airbus is ready and is delivered to the Prince, he will be the owner of four gigantic private jets; the last addition being the world’s largest and most costly private plane. A typical Airbus A380 is capable of handling 800 passengers.
prince-plane2The remodeled Airbus A380 for the Prince shall have the following list of features and well, if these are just the highlights, we are sure that it is going to be one heck of an Airbus to own indeed. The Airbus shall come with a parking space for his Majesty’s Rolls Royce while supporting a concert hall which will be able to hold 10 persons and shall even have a stage for private entertainment sessions.

The plane will also come with spa treatments and rooms dedicated as steam rooms with tiles made of marble. There are plans of incorporating a room which will have flat screen TVs on walls and floors. These TV’s shall be telecasting to passengers what the Airbus is flying over and they call it the “Magic Carpet” room.
Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal
There shall be a room with holographic monitors and a prayer room with mats that shall automatically adjust themselves to face Mecca. There are many other features in the Airbus as well, such as an elevator that can be used to access different levels.
Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure can buy stuff that can make you feel amazing!

Have you ever wondered how superheroes are always in perfectly made up (hair, face, etc.) after slipping into their costume? So have we, but there's still no official explanation from Hollywood. Continue reading to see five of the most puzzling things that only happen in movies.

5. Bullets

It seems like when the villain in a movie meets the hero early on during the story, he can never seem tho shoot him or her accurately, no matter what weapon they may be using. What's even more puzzling is that the hero has come out unscathed even when being shot at with an automatic assault rifle.

4. Starter

Why is it that cars always begin having troubles starting when a character is being chased by someone? We've seen this scenario countless times in horror, action, and drama films, even if the vehicle was working perfectly fine just a minute ago.

3. Vans

Wouldn't it be a bit obvious is you saw a flower delivery van parked in front of your apartment for days on end? Well, in many movies, that "flower delivery" van is actually a surveillance vehicle. Using a standard van, with a gutted interior and tinted windows might seem a little less obvious.

2. Time

Villains seem to tell their entire life story when they have the hero at gunpoint, before pulling the trigger in many movies. I mean, how many movies would've turned out entirely differently had the antagonist actually pulled the trigger without saying anything?

1. Geeks

Computer geeks in movies tend to have the supernatural ability of cracking into just about any system in a matter of minutes. Or, in some cases, the skills to hack into alien motherships to gain control of them. One thing you almost never see them doing however, is fixing printers.

Mars One Shortlists 1058 Candidates To Go To Mars

We all remember the hype which was started when Mars One claimed that it will be entertaining those who wish to get settled on Mars. The idea seemingly preposterous but still managed to gain popularity among the people. The applications were accepted until August 2013 and reached a total of 200,000 applications. That’s a huge number, no? But guess what, after the scrutiny carried out by Mars One, the number of successful applicants has dropped to 1,058.

The non-profit organization came up with the idea of sending people on a one way trip to Mars and announced on Monday that the applicants have been reduced to 1,058, the shortlisted ones notified via email. The organization also stated that the next selection phase is bound to reduce the numbers even more. These settlers are supposed to go to Mars in 2025.

The applications opened in April, 2012 and before they were closed in August 2013, Mars One had received 200,000 applications, a little short on their own target of half million. But now after screening the applications, only 1,058 have been selected. The selection criteria were made up of health, emotional and psychological stability, adaptability, curiosity, trust and capability to trust, resilience, resourcefulness and creativity. However, Mars One has stated in a press release that those who have been rejected are eligible to apply again, as to when that can be done remains a secret.

Bas Lansdorp, founder of Mars One, said; ‘We’re extremely appreciative and impressed with the sheer number of people who submitted their applications. However, the challenge with 200,000 applicants is separating those who we feel are physically and mentally adept to become human ambassadors on Mars from those who are obviously taking the mission much less seriously. We even had a couple of applicants submit their videos in the nude!’

As per Norbert Kraft, Chief MO of Mars One, the following phases of selection which will take place this year and in 2015 are going to be much more difficult and rigorous. He said; ‘The next several selection phases in 2014 and 2015 will include rigorous simulations, many in team settings, with focus on testing the physical and emotional capabilities of our remaining candidates. We expect to begin understanding what is motivating our candidates to take this giant leap for humankind. This is where it really gets exciting for Mars One, our applicants, and the communities they’re a part of.’

The whole idea can be questioned and debated upon, are we moving to a future like the one depicted in Wall-E, are we giving up on Earth or are we simply exploring?!

Science has explained a number of things to us and what were once considered magic tricks are being explained as scientific phenomena. While many new phenomenas are being tried out, there are some which are quite peculiar and amazing. One such phenomena is of acoustic levitation that has been taken up by three Japanese scientists; Yoichi Ochiai, Jun Rekimoto and Takayuki Hoshi.

These three scientists have released a video that shows a number of experiments pertaining to acoustic levitation and how they’ve managed to harness the power of sound. They have carried out some intense experiments which include the levitation of bolts, nails, drops of liquid and wood pieces.

Perhaps someday in the future we’d be able to take full advantage of this technology and employ it to our benefit.

World’s First Self-Driving Car Goes On Sale

Self-driving cars are now closer to reality than ever before. The days of prototypes and concepts are gone and the world can finally meet the first commercially available driverless car. French company Induct has unveiled its new Navia shuttle at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.

With a cost of around $250,000, the shuttle is able to carry eight people and can be summoned using your smartphone or laptop. The Navia shuttle is a zero-emissions vehicle with a top speed of 12.5 mph and users can select their destination via an on-board touch screen. The shuttle is not yet meant for urban use but rather aimed for use in airports, university campuses, stadiums and arenas. Navia uses an array of lasers to detect obstacles in its path instead of GPS like many other self-driving cars.

Induct claims that the car is different from others because it is “intelligent, self-sufficient and environmentally friendly.” With Navia, shuttle services can reduce their costs by 40 to 60 percent. The main objective of Induct is revealed by the company’s chief executive, Pierre Lefevre, who says, “Imagine a city without noisy, polluting buses, replaced by environmentally-friendly, robotic shuttle buses that can be summoned by your mobile phone….Navia is completely self-driving, 100 per cent electric, emission-free, safe and simple to use. It is the ideal solution for taking pedestrians that ‘last mile’”.

Induct has beaten companies such as Google and Tesla by being the first to make a self-driving vehicle available to the market. The future for this small French company and for the self-driving car appear to be very bright as Navia paves the way for other such vehicles to come over the next few years.
